There are many reasons why we clean our teeth.  These are usually to do with keeping our teeth and gums healthy.

One reason why we clean our teeth is to prevent tooth decay. Tooth decay is caused by bacteria clinging to food that is stuck in between your teeth. This causes your teeth to decay and they may eventually fall out or have to be pulled out by a dentist. Things like sugary foods especially fizzy drinks and lollies will cause your teeth to decay faster because they have sugar..

Another important thing cleaning your teeth prevents is cavities. Cavities are small holes in the tooth enamel caused by bacteria left on teeth. Another upside to not getting cavities is you don’t need to get fillings.

The cost of going to the dentist is another big  issue. You get free dentist appointments until you are 17 years old.  After that, if you haven’t looked after your teeth the dentist can charge a lot of money to get teeth fixed.

You need to brush your teeth because if you don’t your breath will stink really bad. Things like garlic will stink out your breath for a really long time unless you brush you teeth. Mouth wash also works.

Plaque is very bad.  If you brush your tongue on your teeth and you get a bit of furry feeling that is bacteria growing.  They quickly multiply, pretty disgusting right.

Just clean your teeth so none of these thing happen to you.
